WITL 2017 – Saturday’s Stories

I don’t know about you all but here at the Fergie house weekends are for chilling out and getting back on top of things that have been missed throughout the week.  Life isn’t what it used to be . . . its WAY better!

Saturday’s are for . . . lie ins (for me that still means rising before 7:30) Last night I had both my baby girls in with me.

Saturdays are for . . . cups of tea and good books.  Z asked me to read the Once series by Morris Gleitzman its set in the era of the Nazis and follows the story of a young Jewish boy.  I’m reading book 2 while she is reading book 4.  They are young adult books and there are a few scenes which Z doesn’t quite get but she has asked for me to explain and is enthralled at this take on history.

Saturdays are for . . . playing make believe.  The little girls are playing high schools!?! All three of our girls have vivid imaginations which I love and encourage.

Saturdays are for . . . social media checks.  Z is pumped to see a page of hers on @projectlifepages

Saturdays are for . . . Bacon and eggs!  Stu is in charge of breakfast on the weekends. Todays bacon was cooked to crispy perfection!

Saturdays are for . . . Netball.  Harper is LOVING her netball mornings.  NetSetGo is a junior development program for kids to learn netball skills before moving to weekly games.

Saturdays are for . . . chores.  Everyone pitches in so momma doesn’t lose her S***. Harper folds the towels while the other two have others jobs, I vac and Stu is down at the cricket club getting ready for tonights presentation night.

Saturdays are for . . . having footy on in the background.  Stu got tickets to today lions match through work but he couldn’t go due to the presentation night so we passed them on to one of Harper’s friends dad as he barracks for the lions also.  Stu will be spewing as they were up most of the game!  Lou and Sandra dropped of a load of books that they no longer want. These will help with my read mini album challenge this year. #readallthebooks

Saturdays are for . . . completing puzzles.  This one was a challenge but we got there.

Saturdays are for . . . 3 loads of washing until the rains came as we drove to the cricket club!  I was not a happy camper! It was torrential!

Saturdays are for . . . awards! The cricket club presentation night saw Z and her friends get a medal for their girls team and Stu got a trophy for reaching his 100 games this year. Stu was giving a gift of thanks from his junior team and winter got this snap of them all.

The girls and I stayed on at the club for dinner then head home, Stu got home about 1am.

WITL 2017 – Thursday’s Stories

Thursday has come and gone yet the stories are still fresh thankfully!

I woke on Thursday with a pounding headache and the need to stay in bed another few hours . . .My sleep the night before was extremely broken and I’m feeling it to the enth degree this morning!

I drag myself out of bed and turn on the dishwasher which hadn’t been out on the night before and boil the kettle.  While the kettle is doing its thing I stretch out my back, all that walking yesterday was in hindsight not a fab idea!

I pull out the containers ready to make the girls lunch cursing this draw as I do so, it is generally much neater then this so I make a mental note to tend to the draws over the weekend.

Max and Cinder say good morning . . . actually I think he is telling her that he thinks she would make a nice meal!

Z makes herself breakfast and I remember the saying “don’t cry over spilt milk”

Wynter writes a letter to Grandma and Granddad and asks me if I could post it to them, she then asks how the post man knows to take it to the right house which begins a conversation about how the post works. . . (yes the “letter” is on a piece cut from a porridge box)

I have to leave earlier then normal today so I’m in doing my hair at the same time the girls are brushing . . . photo curtesy of Harper.

Wish the girls a good day at school and head off to my Pilates class, I have had a shoulder injury for close to 2 years now as well as a hip injury which is going on 6mths and am now being treated by physio (who we actually grew up with her husband) and attending clinical pilates to build the strength back up.  As I’ll be going straight from pilates to work I have to do a quick change so there is lots to take with me this morning.

I really wanted a photo while at pilates but I’ve not been long going and didn’t want to be that person just yet!  After my walk yesterday and a session on the pro former my legs are like jelly, I actually could hardly walk after I got off it! Good help me if the kids want to play piggy during lunch time!  I zoom off to work and am thankfully for a few moments to pop on my make up.

AS I was leaving work I remembered the all important letter to grandma and granddad so quickly went to the post office for a stamp before heading home to sit for five.

I get to school just in time to see My baby girl leaving the library I call out to say Hello and capture this. . .

At home while the girls are changing for swimming I download the school photos and am so grateful to them all for their beautiful smiles.

While the girls are at swimming Z does her homework.  Today I had to set my phone up as a hotspot for the WWW so she could get the info she needed.  She is loving not having to swim anymore it was her least fave activity.

I speak to the new manager and give our notice that we will be leaving, it was a kind of spur of the moment thing, I haven’t been happy since they took over and while we sat in the foyer I was getting more and more frustrated with the lack of personality they have the old admin girl was loving and she would engage with everyone who was there. I have already got the girls on a wait list for another swim school so the break won’t be long.

We shower at swimming which makes it easier once home I captured a moment while they were both getting dry and Harper asked me if the photo is only for the album and could I please not share it anywhere else. I promised her it will only be in the album if she thinks its ok to put in.

On the way home we have to stop for petrol as the light has been on a while . . . I’m that person who will wait until the light is on to get fuel.

I let the girls put on a movie while I have a lie down, this mornings headache is back and I’m really struggling.  I jump in the shower to relive some of the tension in my neck and shoulder then lie back down again. . . .but only a moment as I know I’ll doze off.  While in the shower I think to myself that having 11 different bottles or shampoo and conditioner might be a tad over doing it!  Looking back at last years album . . .I still hate this bathroom!

I check on the girls and they are right into the movie so I chuck on some ravioli and put stir some sauce through and call that dinner, Stu can have left over pizza.  I let them all eat in front of the TV tonight.

I go and snuggle back into bed for an hour before even contemplating eating, I make two yummy poached eggs before going back to bed, I’m asleep before Stu even gets back from walking the dog!

WITL 2017 – Wednesday’s Stories

This week is going so incredible fast, I’m still taking photos each day, sometimes lots and others not so much.  Somethings have been missed which is ok because the days are built around differing stories.

The morning started off with two monkeys in my bed and no sign of the male . . . he had taken to Z’s bed as there was no room for him with Z in ours last night.  I wake achy due to a uncomfortable sleep but glad that I don’t have to work today.

Wynter and I spring out of bed and she goes straight to Max for a cuddle, this morning he wasn’t on the couch thankfully!  She helps with load this morning, she feeds Max and helps with the making of the lunches . . . she was so SUPER that i gave her a positive.  Our rewards chart needs updating as Z reached her ten and has “spent” them already.

After Max has been put outside Cinder cautiously wanders in to the kitchen once she is told it is safe she runs to the back door teasing the boy!

I walk around and open up the house there is so much fog this morning it seems unlikely that it will clear.

Harper is all about netball at the moment, she is keen to get back to her sessions on Saturday morning after our easter break, she asks if I can help her practice her passes, I do a few then finish getting ready to take them to school.
The girls all manage to get ready early enough to walk to school. which they LOVE!

I’d arrange with Martine to go for a walk after drop off, I miss our Wednesday morning walks.  Lou joins us and asks if we could walk to the bridge . . . we went the whole way then went back for a yummy (healthy) breakfast. I’m impressed with our walk efforts for the day 11.7km!!

After breakfast I head back home, Lou offered to drive me home but its only an extra 2km home  . . . half way home i was busting for the loo after my coffee! EKK!!

I chuck on a load of washing and settle in with a book, I need to shower but will do that after Ive hang out the washing that I just put on so I snuggle up with Cinder and read a few more pages (Loving this book!)

Washing out to dry on this gorgeous sunny autumn day, I love love love that we now have a washing line! (I’m not so happy with the stone I got in the photo though I though Id missed that!)

A quick trip to the shops I was looking for table cloths for the presentation night at the cricket club this week but alas so I head to Coles to grab a few things to fill lunch boxes  and the black boots I wanted were on sale #bonus.

I can never resist this when it’s in store . . .I only got one block today though I was being good!

I hang another load of washing and notice the roses need a prune so I dead head all the ones I can and make a mental note to spray the bush from the aphids.

At school pick up Z decides she doesn’t want to go to gymnastics today because she wants to go and work on her homework (talk about knock me down with a feather!). I let them play a while as the weather to so darn perfect! AS we head home Z snaps a photo of me driving.

When we walk in the door she gets right on to her homework project . . . She never likes to do homework so this moment truely needs documenting!

Stu is home early tonight so that I can head out with Martine.  As he walks in the gate Wynter requests some BIG pushes on the swing.

I suggest to Stu that he and the girls go out for pizza, as I leave with Martine my people walk to the Pizza Bar.  The Pizza Bar is our go to easy dinner, it’s down the street, the pizza is the best ever and the owner is awesome.

Martine booked tickets for us to go to these inspiration talks by some people she follows on social media., the talks took place at RMIT in the city, it was such a “different” type of outing for us but so so worth it.  They were so inspiring, I felt filled with a sense of needing to do something.  One of the biggest take aways from the night were as quoted “Be More You” and “if you make a promise stick to it” and my personal fave “don’t put up with crap”.  I needed tonight so much.

After the talk we walked through the city to a Italian restaurant in Little Bourke, we were so starving by this point that I forgot to document the moment.  We ordered the most amazing pizza and chatted away the night before we made our way back to the car.

Once home I took off my make up and fell into bed.  I felt exhausted but wired! I read for a little . . . ok a lot! At 12:30am I turned out the lights desperate to sleep only to be woken at 2am from a disturbing dream! Tomorrow already is looking like a long day!

WITL 2017 – Tuesday’s Stories

Today I used the big camera and i’m a little hesitant about uploading the photos because man it needs a service . . . infact that could be a story for the day.

Today the girls went back to school after the easter break and I went back to work (begrudgingly) so it was back to our daily routines, our morning routine consists of me getting up before everyone else an making a start on the school lunches, I don’t like to rush in the mornings so I tend to get up between 6-6:30.  Currently on my bedside table are a pile of books/a lamp that I have had FOREVER and am desperate to replace, my glasses, a few hair ties, my big camera, some strength exercises that I really HAVE to get back into, a plate with a few bits and bobs, including painkillers as my shoulder has been achy the last few days and my gold foil print which I adore.

Wynter snuck in during the night due to a bad dream, it didn’t make for an orderly comfy night plus she freaked out when Cinder climbs on her at 5am so I ended up putting the cat out and shutting our door to get some shut eye before actually getting up.

As I opened the door to the kitchen I spied a little bobtail climbing off the couch, Max is so not allowed to sleep on the couch and he tends to “get away with it” as we don’t catch him most mornings but not today buddy!

After I’ve finished with the lunch boxes I go and wake the little girls, Harper is keen to see her friends but Wynter exclaims that today she is NOT getting out of bed!

Z draw a smily face on the condensation in our room and Cinder licked a little spot so she could see out! I also manage to drag little miss out of my bed, she is all smiles now that she has been reminded she has an excursion to the zoo later this week!

I heat the teas that we forgot about in the microwave, and while the girls are finishing up their breakfast I check my work email and my new timetable, as I’m not longer working with the preps a few hours a week I was anxious to see which student Id be with in those additional hours, I’m still with my main student which is and isn’t a blessing.

The girls are just about ready for their day and as I’m doing their hair, Stu sends through a message  with a photo of his morning commute with the comment “for WITL”.

The girls are all ready an they are allowed to play or watch TV while I get sorted, they opt for playing with their dolls house, I took a few photos on my big camera of this but will upload these tomorrow to my Mac.

We get to school with a few minutes for them all to find friends before the bell, I catch up with a few of the mums I’ve made friends with before heading back home to tidy up from breakfast / make beds etc, I start at 10 with gives me just enough time to sort out anything I dont get time for in the mornings, if I’m really good I get it all done before school drop off anda manage a coffee before work . . .today is NOT one of those days.

I park in my usual spot at work, I don’t park in the staff car park as I tend to get locked in and would prefer to juts leave without the hassle of finding the key getting out and returning said keys to the office.   I arrived with 15 minutes to put lunch in the fridge and chat to the new aide who is now working with the preps I looked after last term, I’m glad I had a chance to see her this morning she seems really lovely and was grateful I could pass on info about the two preppies.

My work day was pretty stock standard, the first hours the 1/2s had reading then it was out to yard supervisions with my student, he had a good day, I was worried it might be a tricky transition after holidays. PE and math went by without incident which is always good.

After I finished work I met up with Martine and Lou for a walk before getting the kids, its not ideal to walk in jeans but man it felt good to get out and active in the sunshine!

So thankful to not have any activities after school today so it was straight home, their was packages galore today, Harper’s netball kits and the much needed pet food the girlies all munched on a muffin from yesterday then played on the tramp.

While I was out with them I made a mental note to tend to the garden beds and veggie patch.  I’ve decided not to plant winter veggies this year as we will be away during August/September.

Back inside and Z noticed that Wynter has stepped  in dog poo! GROSS! I clean her and the floor up then get to the home readers.

I make a start on dinner only to find the zucchini for our slice was all mouldy, I’m throughly annoyed as it was only brought yesterday! I send through a msg for Stu to stop for chips instead.

I jump in the shower while to girls do homework/writing practice then we get on to some chores . . . Wynter sets the table and the big girls do a quick tidy up.

Harper is thrilled to be having lamb chop[s for dinner . . . we haven’t had them in ages and they are her absolute fave!

After dinner Stu takes Max for a walk to the cricket club as he has a meeting about this weekends presentation night and the girls have some chocolate for dessert, Z snaps this photo of me snapping photos of Cinder.

At Bed time Z tucks in the girls for me and tells Wynter a story.

Zahlia and I watch some TV while Stu is still out, we head to bed at the same time. I feel the need to read and unwind from the first day back at work. Z and Cinder both join me in bed. Before long we are all snoozing.

Stu got home about 10 and slept in Zs bed as there was no room in ours he said.

My Goals for “Week in the Life – 2017”

Week in the Life 2017 is coming up super soon and i’ve been reflecting back on what has worked for me vs what has not and how I want to approach this new album.

2016’s WITL is **cough cough** still a work in progress, with that playing on my mind I looked at why it’s not yet done while my other WITL albums are.  I had made a start on Twenty-Sixteens album but I just wasn’t “FEELING IT” I needed to work out why that was and how could I change it!  Oh man was it simple  . . . I hated the cover page I’d started with, I had taken some patterned paper and adhered to number chip board pieces to it to read 2016 but the paper was just WRONG! It was the same colour palette as the kit, it felt dirty and weird and wrong, so I ditched it swapped out the title for the photo and quote I’d used for my “reason why” and instantly it felt GOOOOD . . . in-fact I now love it!  that simple thing had held me back for almost a whole year, so NOT cool!  To make the whole process super easy and take all the guess work out of getting the photos and stories in the album, I re-visited Ali’s blog posts and used her format with the page protectors and even some of the embellishment placements to get it done super fast.  I’m now super HAPPY with it (even though I don’t have all the photos as my printer died) I know that it will be complete for the start of 2017!

So my plan for 2017 WITL will be pretty similar to 2016, I have  put all my pages in, my daily cards which I think I’ll record something different each day that we are – loving/eating/thankful for/hoping/watching/reading etc I’ve even put in some of the embellishments where I think they my go but I can move them around if need be.

My biggest goal will to be intentional throughout the week, I will intentionally take a family photo, vertical format shots to enlarge, still life shots to place behind the daily transparencies  (which are sold out).  I will make notes each day about how I am feeling, I will include the voices of the girls and Stu.

I have intentionally blocked out time 3 weeks after the set week to work on my album, I’ve chosen a Wednesday to work on it as the girls are all at school and I don’t work so I can sit un interrupted to get it done.  BUT I know that it won’t be completely done that day so I’ve also set a date that I would like to have the WHOLE album complete, for that I’ve picked the end of May.

I’m feeling really good about my prep for this new album and being in this positive mind frame is making me feel better about other things #winning

Til next time!

WITL 2016 – Saturday

Helloooooo weekend!

Oh how I love the weekend!! The girls still wake up early but there is no need to rush to get anywhere, there is no packed lunch to make, no need to watch the clock, it’s bliss really.

Wynter was awake first and in our bed to snuggle at about 6, so the two of us got up.  I tidied up from last night and W and I cuddled on the couch while she watched Nick Jnr and I finished up the Friday blog post.

When H woke up both girls requested breakfast. This is a standard breakfast for H and I have to make it with just warm water no putting it in the microwave and turning it into “real” porridge!

He was in hysterics because he couldn’t get the words out!

Just about ready to head to the shops and I spied him reading my blog. I didn’t know he did this. When I said that to him he replied that I didn’t give him enough credit!

Take our pic mum!

She run to get the paper, stopped and said mumma grab your phone and take a photo for the album. I love that they get involved and stop so I can capture the moment.

We went to the shop to buy her a pair of chucks as she only had sandals and school shoes, she could decide so daddy let her buy both as they were only $30 each! We then went into the asics store and we noticed  a pair of kids sneakers for $24!! I’m a huge fan of asics it’s the only sneakers I’ll wear or buy as I used to compete in athletics these have always been a fan. So for $24 I said we should get miss 9 a pair, so I called her besties mum to get her to check Zs sneaker size (she was sleeping there last night) got her sneaker size and brought another 3 pairs of sneakers the $24 pair which are bright purple and can’t be worn to school and a pair of school approved sneakers each for $50. A bit of a splurge day but their sneakers in the way out.

We got to our friends to pick up our big girl and we never can get in and out without being feed and coffeed, we also locked in our annual snow trip with them despite the fact we said we weren’t doing it this year!  Hubs is secretly jealous of the drum set at their house!

Still can’t leave as the girls are playing footy on the street, it’s already lunch time and I didn’t have breakfast if we don’t move soon all hell may break loose.

When we finally get on the way we decide to ditch our picnic plan and grab lunch at a cafe at the botanic gardens where we are heading.

It’s such a gorgeous autumn day in Melbourne that a walk sound the gardens was on the menu.

I loved that he got down and took a photo, his clearly been watching how I take different angles.

The Shrine of Remeberance was one of my subject for my final photography assignments in secondary school, I love an old building.

We found this gorgeous tribute to the fallen ANZACS that gave me an opportunity to explain to the girls how we pay tribute to them and what the poppy flower represents.

We walked through the gardens taking it all in. The cafe was on the opposite side of where we had parked so we got to see lots. The girls loved it. And yes I took a stand for my iPhone to take a self timer photo.

When we stopped for lunch the big girl was super tired from her sleep over last night that she snuggled on dads lap until lunch came. The food at the cafe was fantastic!

While we ate the girls all looked over the map to work out what they really wanted to see next.

After we ate we went to watch the ducks at the pond, miss 9 got a huge fright when she saw the eels “what the heck was that” she said as she jumped back. Poor sheltered child!

The cool thing about the gardens are all the different areas are all different styles of garden. It really was amazing! We were really taken with the cactus garden, I didn’t take too many photos as I was 1) taking it all in 2) ensuring the girls didn’t get too close or run and fall and end up spiked!

As we wandered back to the gate we entered through we walked through the oak lawn which had some deciduous tress. Autumn is my fave season ever!

We made it to the ice cream stand with 15 mins til they closed.

As we were driving home the little girls were pretending they were in a roller coaster. I love their sense of imagination.

The girls all watched some tv when we got home the hubs and Max went for a walk, the poor pup must have missed us today he was super excited when we got home. I made a start on my WITL album but was a tad distracted with the messy desk so gave up after a little while.

Grilled cheese for dinner after a late lunch but the girls were happy with that.

His footy team were playing (and getting thumped) so we watched that until I heard crying from the big girl. She said she felt ill so I hustled her out of bed and just in time because she vomitted. I hate vomit, it’s one thing I really can’t deal with! I was grateful she made it to the toilet. I stripped her bed of white doona cover just in case! She felt better after being ill and went stratigraphy to sleep. I did take a picture but she yelled and me and asked me not to share it.

We swapped out the footy for a movie (The big short) and had our grilled cheese before saying goodnight on a great Saturday.

WITL 2016 – Thursday

The story of today is that today did NOT go according to plan!

Thursdays are generally the day that I have “to myself” today my girlfriend (the person who gets me like no other!) and I had grand plans to ditch yoga and go into the city have a wander, grab some lunch and see a movie . . . see the thing with Grand Plans when your a mum is not so grand! My friends kids were under the weather so our grand plans have been postponed to another Thursday.

This morning the hubs woke up earlier then me, there are only three times that this will ever happen! A flight for work, a game of golf or like today his beloved Liverpool FC were playing. He loves to get up and watch them.  He is a Pom living in Oz.

Miss 9 woke up and was super unimpressed that all the noise was because Liverpool was on and she didn’t have to get up yet, she did still sit with Dad and watch the game as she does most times he gets up to watch the football.

While he irons his shirt for work, miss 4 asks lots of questions learning about the game, Miss 9 watches and reads Harry Potter .

Max doesn’t get walked this morning much to my annoyance, as Stu will be home late tonight.  The girls tidy up the game they were playing while I get ready, then it’s off to Kinder we go, getting the shoes on in the morning is becoming quicker as miss 4 learns how to get her own shoes on!

I want to remember all the stuff she takes to Kinder and how it barely fits on her hook!

I had a look through her portfolio while I was dropping her off and loved this self portrait she drew back in March, I won’t included it in this album but I will in her yearly album.

After saying goodbye we head to school, as I’m getting the bags out of the boot I mention to Z how light her bag feels . . .”oh no mum my iPad is still on the charger!” back home we go to get the iPad that she needs for school.

The girls classrooms are in the opposite direction so we say good bye to Z as we walk into the gate, I always call out as we part “have a good day ok! but no fun!”

Back home one my own and I get some washing into the machine  (. . . and I’ve just realised it’s still in there!)

I managed to get a bit of study in today but got so frustrated with one of the questions this course is highly disorganized sometimes I just feel like banging my head against a brick wall.

I took a break when I’d completed the written part of my assignment, tonight I’ll finish off my resource kit and call it good! I went and grabbed some cereal and fruit to get through the next two days when I’ll do a big shop.

I only took 20 mins at the shop before heading home.

I squeezed in a quick bit to eat then headed to school. I help in Miss H class on Thursday afternoon. It’s shared spelling with the other classes so I’m not even helping with something she is doing but that’s ok it doesn’t bother me. I love her teacher and just want to make her life easier. I ended up taking home some laminating to finish for her also.

Thursday’s are a quick jump in the car to ensure we get to kinder on time. When I arrived to pick up W she was just finishing a picture of a dolphin jumping out of the water. She was super proud of it.

We went home via my brothers so the girls could see their little cousin. He was so excited to see them and was very vocal in his delight.

I let Miss 9 walk home from her cousins which is only about 100m from our house, she was so excited that I let her walk on her own even though I drove right beside her the whole way.

When we got home I made a start on dinner while Miss 9 empties the washing machine for me and hangs the clothes.

I love that she put on Daddy’s sneakers to go down to the laundry, his sneakers are always at the back door and it’s what I do if I don’t have shoes there.

Miss W was upset that she didn’t have many stars on her chore chart (she is only 4 and doesn’t have many jobs “allocated” to her so I told her if she feed max she could put a star up. I love how she tells him to sit, I want to bottle this time with her forever!

Friday night is normally our taco night but seeing as Daddy is at a work function tonight and tomorrow we have a party to go to I’ve swapped it out to tonight. The girls love tacos and load them up with vegetables which is a win!

We all had showers after dinner and while I was cleaning ears H came in and took a photo of me cleaning W ears and said “for your special album mumma” I love that they embrace it.

I then did Hs ears she gets lots of wax build up which can hurt and cause her hearing to be muffled so it’s a win if we can get some of it out and not have to go to the dr.

I was going to work on my assignment but decided against it to catch up on Orange is the new Black. When I went to bed I found W snuggled into my bed, I love that she brought a book in to read, and I love even more that she has her special bunny in my beanie for his bed!
